CALDWELL, NJ - July 11th, 2005 -- Orion Development Corporation is pleased to announce
that it has released Version 1.3 of Orion OMR and Orion OMR Assistant.
OMR stands for "Optical Mark Recognition". OMR technology allows marks made with pencil or
pen to be read electronically from paper forms, and is a technology used in survey
and testing applications, among others.
Orion OMR (OOMR) is a set of COM components that can be used with any .NET programming
language, such as C# or VB.NET, as well as any COM aware development tool
or environment, such as Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0 and Visual C++ 6.0. OOMR components can
be re-distributed royalty free based on flexible licensing agreements available upon purchase.
| OOMR Assistant (OOMRA) provides graphical tools for the developer allowing
them to more easily define input areas on forms and generate XML definitions for use with OOMR.
Although OOMR Assistant is not intended for re-distribution, it is currently bundled for free with
OOMR. Subsequent versions of OOMR Assistant will be unbundled and sold
seperately. Users who purchase OOMR and OOMRA now will receive free upgrades for
both products when the next versions are available.

Orion to Provide Royalty Free OMR Tools
CALDWELL, NJ - May 1st, 2005 -- Orion Development Corporation announces plans to
release Version 1.3 of the Orion Optical Mark Recognition toolset (OOMR). This will
bundle both the OOMR scanning components and "OOMR Assistant", a tool to help
OMR developers easily create scan form definitions for use with OOMR.
OOMR (TM) used with OOMR Assistant (TM) provides users with the ablity to easily define scanning rules for paper forms
and then automatically scan those forms to produce result documents in XML format. Because
results are produced as XML, those documents can easily be integrated into virtually any data
processing environment.
OOMR Version and OOMR Assistant 1.3 will be sold royalty free.
"We are very excited about this product" says David Arndt, President of Orion. "Until now,
developers have had very little economic choice when it came to building OMR capability into
their products. They either had to pay enormous fees or prohibitive royalities for scannning
libraries - or they had to roll their own, which is an expensive proposition for most developers.
OOMR changes all that by delivering a usable tool at an affordable price,... and with no
strings attached."
Orion will make OOMR Version 1.3 available via download from their web site in the 3rd quarter of
this year.

Groundbreaking Database and Web Services to Advance Diabetes
Self-Management Education
SALT LAKE CITY /PRNewswire/ -- The National Diabetes Education Outcomes System (NDEOS) is being previewed this week at the American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE) Annual Meeting & Exhibition. AADE is collaborating with Orion Development Corporation in a project to standardize
measurement of outcomes in diabetes care and education. "We view our work with AADE as an opportunity to build a valuable service for research by providing user-friendly tools for the diabetes educator community, said David Arndt, President and Principal Architect of Orion. "Until now there hasn't been a truly consolidated approach towards the diabetes educational measurement process, nor has there been a national resource for analyzing data, which could lead to greater efficacy and improved health for the person
living with diabetes," Arndt added.
Diabetes is a costly chronic disease. In the United States alone, recent statistics report 17 million persons with diabetes with the CDC (Center for Disease Control) predicting a continued sharp increase in these already
accelerated rates. The diabetes community, patients and educators, are feeling the pressure from Medicare, third party payers and administrators to provide a more thorough reporting of specific outcomes related to diabetes education. Validation of improved patient behaviors, such as eating habits, physical activity, blood glucose monitoring, and medication administration is required in order to demonstrate outcomes. Diabetes care and education team members can now use the NDEOS to aid in this necessary process.
Successful treatment of diabetes requires the partnership of the patient, clinician and the diabetes educator. With this new system, diabetes educators have a complete solution to gather, track and aggregate patient outcomes while integrating the practice of diabetes education and clinical care. AADE reports that testing of the new system will take place from August 2003 to February 2004 in 500 to 1,000 patients at seven diabetes education sites throughout the United States. It is projected that NDEOS will be available to the entire diabetes education community by March 2004.

Orion to Begin Work on National Diabetes Education Outcomes System
Caldwell, NJ - May 20, 2003 - Orion Development Corporation is pleased to announce that they have been selected by the American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE) to collaborate on the development of a National Diabetes Education Outcomes System ("NDEOS"). NDEOS is a national data repository that will provide data collection, reporting and measurement tools for diabetes education and statistical analysis. The system will offer multiple options for the user at the individual patient level, program level, and national benchmarking level. NDEOS will initially provide data collection via the Web, XML Services, and OMR scan (Optical Mark Recognition).
We view our work with AADE as an opportunity to build a valuable service for research that can make a profound difference in the treatment of diabetes", says David Arndt, President and Principal Architect with Orion Development Corporation. " We are very excited about helping AADE make NDEOS a reality".
NDEOS is the result of a long term strategic initiative of AADE (www.diabeteseducator.org) to define, standardize, and track health outcomes for diabetes education, while integrating the practice of diabetes education and clinical care. Over the past six years, AADE has developed standards for outcomes measurement in diabetes education and tools to capture outcomes at point of care. AADE has funded the research and development of NDEOS internally and through the support of numerous educational grants.
